When our biomedical cluster is at full operation, with all resources in place, I believe anything of meaning in biotech will be influenced in some way by the research, development or business being done here in Memphis.

Biofacilities: UT-Baptist Research Park

« Back

We're doing more than just research to build a world-class research park.

The first of many development projects, the UT-Baptist Research Park sits at the heart of Memphis' emphasis on the biosciences. The potential - 1.2 million square feet of lab research, education and business development space on ten acres smack in the middle of the Memphis Medical District. This thriving area of the city will be home to a dedicated, six story, 165,000 square foot world-class biotechnology research facility. The Research Park will also include five state of the art labs and office buildings, a regional biocontainment laboratory and an incubation program to develop new business in biotechnology and foster creation of new jobs. The new campus will integrate the most current research, teaching and biomedical development.

Demolition has already begun on the site, thanks to Baptist Memorial Health Care's donation of existing properties and funding from the State of Tennessee. Construction is scheduled to start soon thereafter to complete the ten-year, six-phase master plan.
