Dr. Michael B. Kastan
Director, Comprehensive Cancer Center
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Michael Kastan, MD, PhD, is a scientific leader in the field of molecular controls of cellular responses to DNA damage and other stresses. He has made numerous seminal discoveries, such as establishing the role of the p53 tumor suppressor in DNA damage responses and elucidating the mechanism of activation of the ATM protein kinase. He is currently using these insights to develop new therapies to treat cancer and other diseases. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the journal Molecular Cancer Research and Editor of the Abeloff Textbook of Clinical Oncology.
